Jacquie Tarrant is a social worker with over 15 years of in diverse practice settings with a special interest in mental health, suicide prevention, and suicide bereavement working alongside communities to increase knowledge, compassion, capacity, and understanding to better respond to people affected, impacted, or bereaved by suicide. She believes strongly in the power of education and that when people know better, they do better. However, the stigma and misconceptions that surround suicide, mental health, and bereavement can impede our capacities to respond to and support our own needs or the needs of others. Her hope is that by engaging with, speaking to, and training in mental health, suicide prevention, and bereavement, people will feel more confident, comfortable, and capable of supporting the mental health and well-being of themselves and others, whether at home, at work, or with friends, family, and other loved ones.
